Borussia Mönchengladbach to Seek New Shirt Sponsor as Reuter Steps Down

Borussia Mönchengladbach will enter the 2027/28 season with a new shirt sponsor. Reuter will end its spell as the club’s main commercial partner after the 2026/27 campaign, while remaining involved as a co-sponsor.

Reuter to leave shirt front in 2027

The Mönchengladbach-based bathroom, sanitary and lighting retailer has worked with Borussia since 2011. It moved into the principal sponsorship role for the 2024/25 season and is now in its third year on the front of the shirt.

  • Reuter will remain main sponsor through the end of 2026/27.
  • The company will switch to co-sponsor status from 2027/28.
  • Gladbach must appoint a replacement before the new season begins in summer 2027.
  • No reason for the change in status was disclosed.

Chief executive Stefan Stegemann described Reuter as an exceptionally dependable partner with close ties to the club. He said the relationship illustrated the connection between two companies from Mönchengladbach.

“We thank them for a highly trusting partnership and are looking forward to the final season with Reuter on the shirt,” Stegemann said. “We are also pleased that Reuter will continue to stand alongside us as a co-sponsor.”

Time to begin the commercial search

The early notice gives Gladbach time to identify their next main sponsor. Reuter’s continued involvement also means the long-running partnership will not end entirely after 2026/27.

The commercial update arrives during a difficult sporting start. Gladbach are bottom of the Bundesliga after four matches, still without a point.

Blessin prepares for Cologne derby

The international break brought a coaching change, with Alexander Blessin appointed after Eugen Polanski was relieved of his duties.

  • Gladbach have taken zero points from four Bundesliga fixtures.
  • They sit last in the table.
  • Alexander Blessin has replaced Eugen Polanski as head coach.
  • The next match is the Rhine derby away to 1. FC Köln on Sunday at 15:30.

The derby gives Blessin an immediate high-profile assignment and Gladbach a chance to reset after their winless opening month.
