Brazil’s record was built around several defining eras. Pelé was central to the titles won in Sweden in 1958, Chile in 1962 and Mexico in 1970, with the latter side still celebrated as the “Brazil of five number 10s”.
The Seleção waited until USA 1994 for their next World Cup, then added a fifth crown in Korea and Japan in 2002. Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Roberto Carlos and Rivaldo were among the leading figures in that later success.
