For 45 minutes, nothing moved. Then AIK Stockholm and Brommapojkarna turned a quiet Swedish league night into a storm of goals, with 11 scored after half-time and a winner arriving in the ninth minute of stoppage time.
A scoreless first half gives way to chaos
The meeting, played in the 23rd round of the Swedish championship, remained locked at 0-0 until the interval. The second half brought a complete reversal in tempo, as the two Stockholm sides combined for 11 goals.
- Brommapojkarna built what appeared to be an unassailable 5-1 lead by the 70th minute.
- AIK, playing at home, then mounted a remarkable late response rather than accepting defeat.
- The hosts drew level at 5-5 in the seventh minute of added time.
- Mads Hansen restored Brommapojkarna’s lead two minutes later, sealing a 6-5 away win.
Hansen strikes after AIK’s dramatic recovery
AIK had been four goals behind with around 20 minutes remaining, but their late attacking surge brought them back into the contest. Their equaliser at 90+7 looked set to complete an extraordinary rescue mission and leave the teams with a point each.
There was one final twist. Brommapojkarna right-back Mads Hansen found the net from close range at 90+9, making it 6-5 and ending the match with AIK’s comeback unrewarded.
Different consequences at either end
The victory gives Brommapojkarna extra breathing room above the lower reaches of the table. AIK remain ninth despite their seven-goal second-half effort, and the gap to leaders Sirius has grown to 21 points.
