Bruno Fernandes’ Cheshire Home Burgled During Manchester United’s Como Trip

In the Cheshire countryside, while Manchester United were away in Italy for their Champions League meeting with Como, Bruno Fernandes faced an unwelcome concern far from the stadium. The Portugal midfielder’s home was burgled on Wednesday, 21 October, during the match, with the player and his family understood not to have been at the property.

Police were called at about 8.30pm after a report that three unfamiliar men had been seen in the rear garden of a house in the Alderley Park area. By the time officers reached the address, the men had gone. Their examination of the property established that a burglary had taken place and that items had been removed.

An investigation in Cheshire

Detectives in Macclesfield have begun inquiries to identify those responsible. Detective Inspector David Jarvis said the investigation remained at an early stage, with officers collecting information to build a clearer picture of the incident.

Residents in the surrounding area have been asked to come forward with anything they may have seen, particularly security-camera or vehicle-dashcam footage that could show suspicious activity around the time of the break-in. No arrests had been announced as the inquiry continued.

Fernandes, United’s captain and one of the central figures in the squad, has received private support from the club following the incident. The episode came shortly before United’s next domestic appointment: Bournemouth’s visit to Old Trafford in the eighth round of the Premier League season.

From Como to Old Trafford

The burglary adds a difficult personal note to a week that had already taken United and their captain across Europe to Como. For Fernandes, the immediate football calendar moves back to Manchester, but the investigation remains in Cheshire as police seek to trace the three men reported near the home.
