In Brazil’s Serie C, the decisive meeting between Brusque and Paysandu was interrupted after dangerous movement was detected in one of the stands.
The safety concern brought the contest to a halt, with the prospect of promotion to Serie B left unresolved. What had been a defining afternoon for both clubs was overtaken by concern for supporters as the terrace movement raised the possibility of a far more serious incident.
The promotion decision was therefore suspended, with the match unable to continue under the circumstances. Brusque and Paysandu must now wait for the competition authorities to determine how and when the race for a place in Brazil’s second division can be concluded.
