Serie A’s sixth-round Sunday programme concludes in Sardinia, where Cagliari’s promising opening phase will be tested by a Juventus side seeking to build on its win over Atalanta. Fabio Pisacane’s team welcome Luciano Spalletti’s visitors to the Unipol Domus on Sunday 11 October, with kick-off scheduled for 20:45.
The decision
Cagliari have become one of the early stories of the season under Pisacane, and the international break brought further recognition for the squad: Daniel Maldini and Alessandro Romano added senior national-team appearances.
Pisacane is expected to retain a 4-3-2-1 shape. Elia Caprile could start in goal behind a defence of Zé Pedro, Yerry Mina, Rodriguez and Adam Obert. Romano, Harry Winks and Fazzini are projected in midfield, with Michel Adopo and Maldini operating behind Mendy.
The home side are without Felici, Trepy, Idrissi, Grandu and Akarakiri. Radunovic, Sherri, Kofler, Deiola, Sugawara, Aurelio, Sulev, Gagliardini, Liteta, Ciervo, Fadera, Massolin, Kevin Carlos, Nzola and Sugamele are among Pisacane’s available alternatives.
Juventus arrive after overcoming Atalanta and Spalletti will look for a second consecutive league victory. The expected Juventus XI is arranged in a 4-2-3-1, with Vicario behind Kalulu, Bremer, Lucumi and Celik. Sarr and Douglas Luiz are set to form the midfield pair, while Conceiçao, Weston McKennie and Nico Gonzalez support Kolo Muani.
Gatti, Kelly, Cambiaso, Cabal, Rugani, Koopmeiners, Oboavwoduo, Alajbegovic, Zhegrova and Woltemade provide the principal options from the bench. Juventus cannot call on Ekhator, Yildiz, Khephren Thuram, Locatelli, Boga, Grabara or Owusu, while Neto is suspended.
Sunday’s picture
The match will be refereed by Marcenaro of the Genoa section. For Cagliari, the occasion offers another measure of a strong beginning under a new coach; for Juventus, it is an opportunity to turn one important result against Atalanta into a steadier rhythm.
