Camavinga Hit During Real Madrid’s El Clásico Celebrations

Barcelona’s stadium fell silent only briefly after Kylian Mbappé’s late winner for Real Madrid, but the closing moments of El Clásico carried an uglier edge when Eduardo Camavinga was struck amid the away side’s celebrations. Madrid’s 2-1 victory was secured in the 87th minute, yet the scenes near the corner flag prompted a security stoppage and left a shadow over the night.

Camavinga had created the decisive goal with an individual move before setting up Mbappé. As the French pair and their teammates gathered beside the corner, objects began arriving from a section occupied by Barcelona supporters.

Footage shared after the match appeared to show Camavinga being hit by the pole of a flag being waved from the stands. The incident was not clearly visible on the main broadcast, but the later images showed the Madrid midfielder becoming the target during the celebration.

Play stopped after crowd disturbance

Referee Juan Martínez Munuera halted the match for around 80 seconds as the tension developed near the corner. The interruption allowed the security procedure to be put into effect before play resumed for the final phase of the contest.

The referee recorded the crowd trouble in his official report, noting that a water bottle and a Coca-Cola can had been thrown from the Fondo Norte stand while Real Madrid celebrated their goal.

Martínez Munuera stated that neither of the two items listed in his report made contact with a player. The report did not account for the subsequent images involving the flagpole and Camavinga.

Real Madrid nevertheless saw out the result, with Mbappé’s strike deciding a fiercely contested 2-1 El Clásico. For Barcelona, the defeat was compounded by the conduct of a section of the crowd as their rivals celebrated at the end of the match.
