Canadiens Honor Molson Legacy With Brewery-Themed Heritage Classic Arrival

Montreal Canadiens players leaned into the setting before the 2026 Tim Hortons Heritage Classic, arriving for the outdoor game in brewery-worker coveralls and hard hats.

A Molson-themed arrival for Montreal

The Canadiens’ cold-weather look paid tribute to the Molson family, whose history is woven into both Montreal and the club’s ownership group. Geoff Molson, the Canadiens’ president, is a seventh-generation descendant of John Molson, who founded Molson beer.

The Molson family retains a major stake in the company now known as Molson Coors Beverage Company. Montreal’s coveralls also carried “Heritage” in script across the back, fitting the occasion for one of the NHL’s outdoor showcase games.

Players made the call

  1. Montreal selected the brewery-worker theme for its arrival at the Heritage Classic.
  2. The players wore full coveralls and hard hats as part of the coordinated outfit.
  3. Coach Martin St. Louis said the decision came from the room, not from him or Geoff Molson.

“I think it’s great,” St. Louis said. “We’re very fortunate to have Geoff Molson as an owner. He’s a terrific person. The players decided on it. I had no part in the decision, and Geoff didn’t influence it, but it says a lot about how much we appreciate him. I like it.”

The Canadiens joined the familiar outdoor-game tradition of teams arriving in themed attire for events such as the Heritage Classic, Winter Classic and Stadium Series. This one came with a Montreal stamp: workwear, hard hats and a salute to the family behind one of the city’s best-known names.
