Cartagena and Real Murcia meet at Cartagonova on Wednesday 7 October, with kick-off set for 20:30, in a Murcian derby carrying early-season weight at both ends of the Primera RFEF Group 2 table. Cartagena can move closer to the promotion play-off places after their emphatic win over Águilas, while Murcia arrive believing another victory could lift them level with Real Zaragoza near the summit.
A derby to close the round in Cartagena
The fixture is presented as the final match of the fifth round, although pre-match material also referred to it as the sixth round. It is Cartagena’s third home game of the 2026-27 campaign.
- FC Cartagena go into the game after a convincing victory against fellow Murcia-region side Águilas.
- A home win would put Cartagena within reach of the promotion play-off positions.
- Real Murcia have made a much stronger start than they did last season and are being viewed as promotion contenders.
- Murcia supporters travel to Cartagonova after a sequence in which their side have suffered only one defeat in the opening five rounds.
- The visitors are aiming to repeat the result they achieved in Cartagena last year.
Vélez makes four Cartagena changes

Cartagena’s confirmed line-up is:

Murcia retain the backbone of the Nàstic side

Early points, immediate pressure
The stakes are considerable despite the season still being young. Cartagena are chasing the upward pull of a second consecutive regional result, while Real Murcia have the chance to underline their improved opening weeks and draw level on points with Real Zaragoza. At Cartagonova, the derby closes the round with promotion ambitions already shaping the mood on both sides.
