Piotr Zielinski Confident Inter Can Handle Serie A Title Challenge

Piotr Zielinski sees Inter’s season entering its demanding stretch with confidence rather than concern. After the international break, the midfielder believes the club have the depth and quality to deal with a crowded calendar, while keeping both Serie A and Europe in view.

The decision

For Zielinski, the immediate task is straightforward: Inter must return from the break and play to their established level. The schedule will bring repeated fixtures and limited recovery time, but he does not regard fatigue as a problem for a side built to compete on several fronts.

“We simply have to play our football and win as many matches as possible,” he said. “There is no worry about the number of games. Tiredness is not an issue: the top teams play every three days, and in a squad like ours everyone will have the chance to contribute.”

The Poland international also feels he can offer more in his third season with the Nerazzurri. He did not attempt to identify one clear difference from his first year in Milan, but said he now feels capable of producing at a higher level.

Inter’s ambitions extend beyond the domestic campaign. Zielinski described winning in Europe as the ultimate dream, while setting the target of improving on last season’s Champions League run. He pointed to the performance in Madrid as evidence that the group already carries the necessary belief, having created a number of chances there.

“We are a very strong team with a lot of quality, but we have to show it,” Zielinski said. “Winning in Europe would be the greatest thing, a dream. We want to do better than last year and we will give everything. In Madrid, we showed it by creating a lot. There is real awareness within the team.”

Sunday’s picture

Zielinski is not ready to reduce the Scudetto race to a short list, even if Inter expect a harder challenge than they faced last year. In his view, Roma, Juventus, Napoli and Como all have the strength to stay involved as the championship resumes.

“It is still early,” he said, “but Roma, Juventus, Napoli and Como are strong. This season will require something more than the previous one.”

The coming weeks will therefore test not only Inter’s results but the breadth of their squad. Zielinski’s message is that the calendar should be treated as an opportunity: a season in which every player can find minutes, and in which Inter intend to remain present in both the title contest and the Champions League.
