In Hong Kong, a surprising return is taking shape for one of Spain’s most decorated midfielders. David Silva, now 40 and retired since 2023 after a knee injury, has agreed to resume his playing career with Supreme ShaTin.

A new stop in Hong Kong

Supreme ShaTin have confirmed the arrival of Silva, who will wear the number 21 shirt. The former Spain international is expected to travel to Hong Kong shortly, settle in the city and begin work with his new teammates before making his first appearance.

  • Silva retired from professional football in 2023 because of a knee injury.
  • The Spanish midfielder has signed for Supreme ShaTin at the age of 40.
  • He will take the club’s number 21 jersey.
  • The plan is for him to train and build match fitness before his debut.
  • His arrival is anticipated during November.

Silva looks forward to the move

The Canary Islander said he was delighted by the prospect of joining the club and making the journey east. Silva also spoke of his interest in experiencing Hong Kong beyond the pitch, with its people and culture part of the appeal alongside football.

“I am very happy to join Supreme ShaTin and I am really looking forward to going to Hong Kong,” Silva said. “I want to enjoy the culture, the people and, naturally, football there. I cannot wait to arrive. See you soon, and greetings to everyone.”

The task awaiting the midfielder
