The Diamondbacks will have to chase the National League’s last wild-card berth without Corbin Burnes for at least the next 15 days.
Arizona placed the right-hander on the injured list Friday because of shoulder inflammation, removing him from the club’s plans one day before he had been scheduled to take the ball.
Burnes’ absence lands at a difficult point on the calendar for the Diamondbacks, who are still trying to remain in the race for the league’s final wild-card position. Arizona will need to cover a planned start while also navigating the stretch run without one of its frontline right-handed options.
