Buffalo Bills wide receiver DJ Moore left Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions with a shoulder injury after landing hard in the end zone on a Josh Allen throw, cutting short his second appearance with the club.
Moore was ruled out before halftime after he went to the ground while attempting to secure a low pass on second-and-3 from Detroit’s 6-yard line. Buffalo held a 21-7 lead when Allen looked for Moore in the end zone.
The receiver fell onto his shoulder, rolled onto his back and grabbed near the left collarbone area. He was able to walk to the locker room without assistance and underwent X-rays.
Flag erases Moore’s first target
The end-zone attempt was Moore’s first pass thrown his way, although it will not count in the official target totals because Buffalo was called for offensive holding on the play.
Moore had one rushing attempt earlier in the game, losing one yard.
Buffalo acquired Moore from the Chicago Bears in an offseason trade, bringing in the No. 1 wide receiver the organization had long sought for Allen’s offense. He made an immediate impact in the opener against the Houston Texans, posting five catches for 100 yards and a touchdown.
Chargers game now in focus
Moore’s status will be a major concern for the Bills as they prepare for their Week 3 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. Buffalo will await the results of his evaluation after the shoulder injury ended his afternoon against Detroit.
