The Philadelphia Eagles will be without left guard Landon Dickerson after placing the three-time Pro Bowler on injured reserve following a difficult Week 1 victory over the Washington Commanders.
Eagles lose Dickerson after Week 1 line struggles
Philadelphia’s offensive line did not perform to its usual standard in the season opener, and Dickerson accepted responsibility for his role in the unit’s issues during a Monday appearance on WIP’s Players’ Lounge.
The 27-year-old said he was not physically ready to play after suffering an injury in practice several weeks earlier. Dickerson said he was rolled up on during a drill and expected the issue to improve with time, but the knee did not respond as hoped.
“I was a liability out there, and that falls on me,” Dickerson said. “I said in camp that I should not be playing until I am healthy. I thought it would improve over the following weeks, but it never did. We finally got imaging done and found out what was going on.”

Guard wants to avoid another season of playing hurt

He has since acknowledged that he returned too soon last year, and he does not want to repeat that approach with the current knee issue.
“The smartest move is going on IR, getting this right and being ready for a strong stretch late in the season,” Dickerson said. “I do not want to spend another 18 weeks trying to play while limping around. Nobody wants to watch that again, and I do not want to do it again.”
Philadelphia considers replacement options
Rookie Drew Kendall is among the leading candidates to replace Dickerson in the starting lineup. The 2025 fifth-round selection had a strong training camp and could receive an expanded role on the interior.
Willie Lampkin is another available option as the Eagles adjust their depth chart while Dickerson recovers.
