Efraín Juárez’s English Team Talk Goes Viral at Győri ETO FC

In Győr, where the Danube bends through western Hungary, Efraín Juárez is carrying the same animated presence from Mexican football into a multilingual European dressing room. A 37-second video of the Győri ETO FC coach addressing his players has circulated online, showing the Mexican manager delivering an intense team talk in English.

The news from the club

Juárez, widely known by the nickname “Efrastóteles”, is seen speaking with emphatic hand movements and a forceful tone as he urges his squad to stay focused. His message centres on physical commitment, competitive mentality and the need to keep fighting—principles he has made central to his work as a coach.

The footage has drawn attention because it reflects the expressive, direct manner associated with Juárez during his spell in charge of Pumas. The setting is now markedly different: rather than a Liga MX dressing room, he is working with a Győri squad made up of players from 19 different nationalities.

Juárez has identified communication as one of the major challenges of his move to Hungary. He chiefly uses English, Spanish and French to explain his ideas, with the aim of ensuring that every player understands both his tactical demands and the intensity required on the pitch.

After leaving Pumas, whom he led to the Clausura 2026 final, Juárez took charge of Győri ETO FC in June. He has since sought to establish an aggressive, physically demanding identity in Hungary’s top division while building a side capable of competing near the leading positions.

A project taking shape in Hungary

Győri ETO’s recent results have supported that ambition. The club beat Paksi SE 2-1 on 17 October, a result that kept the team in contention at the upper end of the Hungarian championship standings.

Despite the encouraging start, Juárez has maintained that there remains work to do. He has stressed the value of physical preparation and a sustained competitive mindset as Győr continue their campaign, with the Mexican coach trying to make his demanding approach travel as clearly as his voice does across the dressing room.
