England Host Czech Republic at Wembley in Nations League Test

Wembley hosts England’s final assignment of an extended international window on Tuesday night, with Thomas Tuchel’s side carrying six points and a growing sense of momentum into their meeting with the Czech Republic. Only Spain, who beat England on the opening matchday of this Nations League campaign, have bettered their return during the break so far.

England arrive with six points

  1. England began their Group A3 programme with a 0-21 victory over the Czech Republic.
  2. They followed that result on Saturday by overwhelming Croatia 7-0 away from home.
  3. The Czech Republic now travel to London for the Tuesday fixture, scheduled for 21:00.

Tuchel’s team have found fluency after the earlier defeat to Spain and approach this match in what appears to be the strongest spell of his tenure. Anthony Gordon and Jude Bellingham have been especially influential before they return to their clubs.

Gordon, described as the Barcelona wide player, has scored in each of England’s three games during this international period. Bellingham comes into the Wembley contest after recording one goal and three assists against Croatia, and both are expected to start unless there is an unexpected late change.

A difficult evening expected for the Czech Republic

The Czech Republic remain without a point, although there have been signs of progress under Santi Denia as a side still taking shape. Their early displays have carried promise, but results have not followed, and a trip to face an in-form England at Wembley presents another demanding test.

Denia’s players will seek a first reward from the group, knowing that even a draw in London would represent a significant outcome. England’s recent results, however, have placed them firmly among the leading sides of this international window.

Kane set for landmark appearance

Harry Kane is expected to lead England’s line and, if selected, will make his 125th international appearance. That total would bring him level with Peter Shilton at the top of England’s all-time appearance list, sharing a record held by one of the country’s most enduring international figures.
