Frosinone’s season has offered Florian Grillitsch barely a beginning, but the Austrian midfielder has now taken an important step towards returning to the squad after successful surgery for a right-sided sports hernia.
The club confirmed that Grillitsch underwent a TAPP hernioplasty procedure, with the operation completed successfully. His rehabilitation programme will begin in the coming days.
Signed during the summer, Grillitsch had been expected to add experience and quality to Frosinone’s midfield. Instead, his campaign was interrupted almost immediately by the physical problem that eventually required surgery.
His only Serie A appearance so far came on the second matchday, when he played 14 minutes against Fiorentina before being forced out of action. The operation now provides a route back after a long early-season absence, although no timetable for his return to competitive football has been announced.
A recovery route begins
For Frosinone, the next phase is the rehabilitation process rather than an immediate return date. The club will monitor Grillitsch’s progress as he works back from the procedure, hoping the summer arrival can still become a meaningful option during the season.
