Gattuso Opens Up on 15-Year Battle With Autoimmune Disease

In Rome, a Lazio coach who was part of Italy’s 2006 World Cup-winning squad has spoken openly about living with an autoimmune illness, saying the condition has altered the rhythm of everyday life.

The former Italy international revealed that he is taking medication to manage the disease and admitted that its effects are not easy to carry.

“It is not easy; it takes its toll on me,” he said, describing the impact the illness has had beyond the touchline.

The disclosure offers a personal glimpse into the daily reality facing a member of Lazio’s coaching staff, whose career includes the highest international honour with Italy in Germany in 2006.
