In front of 17,000 spectators at the Stade d’Ornano, Armand Gnanduillet gave Caen a derby win — and an unexpected shop promotion — with a memorable late burst against FC Rouen.

Caen defeated Rouen 3-2 on Thursday night in a heated Normandy derby in Ligue 3, with veteran forward Gnanduillet scoring twice in first-half stoppage time.
The 34-year-old Ivorian striker struck in the fourth and seventh added minutes before the interval to put Stade Malherbe on course for a valuable home victory.
His second goal brought an unusual celebration. Gnanduillet pulled down his shorts in front of the home crowd, a moment that quickly travelled beyond the stadium.
Footage of the celebration surpassed 1.5 million views on the X account of Ligue 1+, the competition’s broadcaster. Caen then turned the episode into a commercial joke on Friday, launching a discount across the shorts available in the club shop.
The campaign used an image of Gnanduillet’s celebration and the message: “Shorts are down.”
The next appointment in France
Before the remaining eighth-round fixtures begin on Saturday at 20:45, Caen sit second in the table, two points behind leaders Rouen.
