Portugal will begin Sunday night in Norway without Cristiano Ronaldo on the pitch, with Jorge Jesus opting for Gonçalo Ramos to lead the attack in the Nations League.
Portugal rotate for Norway trip
- Portugal travel to Norway for their second Nations League match, kicking off at 20:45.
- Ronaldo, the 41-year-old regular captain, has been named among the substitutes as Ramos takes the centre-forward role.
- It is Ronaldo’s first start from the bench since September 2024, when he came on at half-time and scored in Portugal’s 2-1 Nations League victory over Scotland.
- Portugal will also be without Bruno Fernandes, who is unavailable for the fixture.
Different roles for Paris players
Three Paris Saint-Germain players are involved in the Portugal squad, but only two will start in Norway. Nuno Mendes keeps his place at left-back, while João Neves comes into the side after not starting Thursday’s 1-0 win over Wales.
Vitinha, however, will join Ronaldo on the bench. The midfielder had featured in the Wales match but is not included in Jesus’s starting XI for the trip north.
Norway make one alteration
Norway coach Ståle Solbakken has made a single change from the team that beat Denmark 3-2 on Thursday. Andreas Schjelderup starts on the wing in place of Oscar Bobb.
