The Guardians’ victory over the Royals secured the club’s place atop the AL Central for another season. Cleveland will enter the postseason as the American League’s No. 2 seed, which comes with a first-round bye.
For the Guardians, the division clincher also means there will be no Wild Card Series on their October schedule. They can turn their attention toward the next round while the lower seeds play for the right to meet them.
