Inter’s early season has been marked by a shared responsibility in front of goal. Seven matches into the campaign — six in Serie A and one in the Champions League — ten different Nerazzurri players have already scored, giving the side a breadth of contribution that has become one of the clearest themes of its opening weeks.
A scoring list that keeps growing
Petar Sucic became the latest name on the scoresheet after capitalising on Keita’s loss of possession at the edge of the area. The midfielder took the ball away and beat Corvi with a left-footed strike into the roof of the net, turning an opponent’s mistake into the opening goal.
Lautaro Martinez leads Inter’s scoring chart with four goals, while several others have added their share to the collective output.
- Lautaro Martinez: four goals
- Marcus Thuram: two goals
- Hakan Calhanoglu: two goals
- Carlos Augusto: two goals
- Pio: two goals
- Piotr Zielinski: one goal
- Nicolo Barella: one goal
- Yann Bisseck: one goal
- Ange-Yoan Bonny: one goal
- Petar Sucic: one goal
Only Brighton have had as many different scorers at this stage. Inter have used 19 players across those seven fixtures, yet their scoring spread has surpassed that of several European sides known for prolific starts. Barcelona, despite scoring 34 goals in their first eight Liga matches under Hansi Flick, have not reached ten individual scorers. Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid under Mourinho and Atletico Madrid are also cited among the teams unable to match that figure.
Different routes to the net
The variety is as significant as the numbers. Inter have found goals from set pieces, wide areas, penalties, pressing situations and direct passes through the middle.
The three goals against Parma illustrated that range. Sucic’s opener followed Inter’s high pressing across the pitch, even if Keita’s error provided the decisive moment. Calhanoglu then converted another penalty, continuing an exceptional record from the spot: he has missed only two of his 32 penalties for Inter. The third came when Henrikh Mkhitaryan released Thuram with a through ball over distance.
- The opening goal came from pressure high up the field and Sucic’s finish.
- Calhanoglu added a penalty.
- Thuram completed the scoring after Mkhitaryan’s pass.
Creative contributions across the squad
The distribution of assists follows a similarly collective pattern. Diouf is Inter’s leading creator so far with four assists, while Thuram has supplied two. A further group have each registered one decisive pass.
- Diouf: four assists
- Marcus Thuram: two assists
- Pio: one assist
- Piotr Zielinski: one assist
- Federico Dimarco: one assist
- Nicolo Barella: one assist
- Carlos Augusto: one assist
- Yann Bisseck: one assist
- Manuel Akanji: one assist
- Henrikh Mkhitaryan: one assist
There will be further names added over the season, both among the scorers and the providers. For now, Inter’s opening chapter has been defined not by one isolated source of goals, but by a squad in which contributions are arriving from almost every area of the side.
