Italian football will close another December chapter at San Siro, where Inter and Lazio are set to contest the Italian Super Cup on 22 December.
The decision
Serie A has confirmed a return to the traditional one-match format after three seasons in which the competition was staged as a four-team Final Four.
The fixture will also bring the Super Cup back to Italy following four consecutive editions played in Saudi Arabia. Milan’s San Siro will host the meeting between Inter, Serie A champions and Coppa Italia winners, and Lazio, who reached the final of the domestic cup.
For Inter, the occasion comes as recognition of a season in which the club collected both the league title and the Coppa Italia. Lazio enter through their place as beaten cup finalists, with one night in Milan now offering a separate prize before the winter period takes hold.
