Tight end C.J. Uzomah announced his retirement after 10 NFL seasons, including seven with the Cincinnati Bengals. He finishes with 192 receptions, 1,881 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns.

Wide receiver Allen Robinson also retired following an 11-year career with the Jaguars, Bears, Rams, Steelers and Lions. Robinson, who last played for Detroit in 2024, appeared in 139 games and posted 565 catches for 7,058 yards and 43 touchdowns. His 2015 season with Jacksonville included a Pro Bowl selection, the league lead in touchdown catches and the first of three 1,000-yard campaigns.

Tony Boselli, Jacksonville’s executive vice president of football operations and a Pro Football Hall of Fame member, was appointed to the 12-person NFL Competition Committee.

Linebacker Kenneth Murray participated in a tryout.

The week ahead

Friday’s preseason finale between Stefanski’s club and Miami will feature starters, while Thursday’s preseason game will give Simpson an opportunity to state his case in the Rams’ backup-quarterback competition.

Tennessee closes its preseason schedule Saturday, with Faulk not expected to play as he continues to recover from his shoulder injury. Meanwhile, the Chiefs will begin easing Smith back into football work this week, and several players who were activated from PUP or injury lists are scheduled to return to practice.
