Juventus Hit by Injury Crisis Ahead of Atalanta Showdown

Juventus enter Sunday’s fifth Serie A matchday with Atalanta arriving at the Allianz Stadium at 18:00, but Luciano Spalletti’s selection has again been shaped by an extensive injury list. The home side must manage a major league fixture without several established options, while a handful of returning and emerging players offer the coach different solutions.

A depleted Juventus squad for Atalanta

Kenan Yildiz, Juan Cabal, Khephren Thuram, Manuel Locatelli, Jeremie Boga, Arkadiusz Milik, Ekhator and Andrea Cambiaso have all been left out of the Juventus group for the match.

  1. The latest setback concerns goalkeeper Kamil Grabara, who has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his right knee.
  2. Grabara will undergo surgery, removing another player from Spalletti’s available squad.
  3. Riccardo Radu has been brought into the call-up list in his place.
  4. Weston McKennie returns to league availability, giving Juventus an additional midfield option.
  5. Next Gen midfielder Makiobo has received his first senior Serie A call-up.

The absences leave Juventus short of familiar reference points across the side for a demanding meeting with Atalanta. Spalletti will instead have to lean on the players who remain available, with the match offering an opportunity for members of the wider squad to take responsibility at the Allianz Stadium.

Juventus squad list

Position group Players selected
Goalkeepers Vicario, Radu, Pinsoglio
Defenders Celik, Bremer, Gatti, Kelly, Kalulu, Pagnucco, Rugani, Lucumi
Midfielders Douglas Luiz, Koopmeiners, McKennie, Sarr, Nico Gonzalez, Makiobo
Forwards Kolo Muani, Alajbegovic, Woltemade, Zhegrova, Conceiçao

With McKennie back in contention and Makiobo included for the first time at Serie A level, Juventus have at least found two small openings in a difficult week. Against Atalanta, however, the broader challenge remains clear: to keep their championship rhythm despite a squad list heavily marked by absences.
