La Roche-sur-Yon will enter a nearly two-week Ligue 3 break still looking down on the division. The promoted side recovered from an early setback against Aubagne to win 3-1 at home, extending its winning run to three matches and protecting first place on a night that reshaped the chasing pack.
The move
Frédéric Reculeau’s leaders were caught cold in the 16th minute when Bilel Tafni headed Aubagne in front. La Roche-sur-Yon had struggled to turn their attacking play into clear finishing before producing a decisive response after the interval.
Djibril Bangoura levelled in the 53rd minute with a composed low finish, then created the second goal three minutes later for captain Thomas Allemand. Mansour Samb sealed the comeback in the 71st minute, taking his league tally to seven for the campaign.
The 3-1 result ensured La Roche-sur-Yon remained top, with Rouen keeping the pressure on only one point behind.
The French season around it
- La Roche-sur-Yon: Djibril Bangoura, Thomas Allemand and Mansour Samb
- Rouen: Clément Bassin and Bakari Camara
- Concarneau: Aly Sidibé and Baptiste Macon
- Caen: Yoro Diaby
- FC Fleury 91: Kévin Farade and Yannis Verdier
Rouen handled Bourg-en-Bresse 2-0, with Clément Bassin scoring in the 33rd minute and Bakari Camara adding a late second in the 80th. The Normans’ victory kept them within touching distance of the leaders.
Concarneau moved into the top three by beating Paris 13 Atlético 2-1. Enzo Dodé put the visitors ahead in the 65th minute, his first goal for the Paris club, but Aly Sidibé equalised in the 78th before Baptiste Macon struck in the 91st minute to turn the game around.
Cannes also enjoyed a strong evening, ending a three-match sequence without a win by defeating Quevilly-Rouen Métropole 3-1. Oumar Sidibé’s curling effort in the 71st minute stood out in a comfortable win.
Caen suffered the sharpest fall near the summit. Starting the night second, Maxime D’Ornano’s side dropped four places after losing 3-2 at FC Fleury 91, who climbed to 10th.
Caen had helped create the opening goal in the 30th minute, but Kévin Farade levelled nine minutes later for his fifth of the season. Yannis Verdier gave Fleury the lead in the 60th minute. New signing Yoro Diaby briefly revived Caen’s hopes with a 64th-minute goal, yet Verdier scored again in the 74th. Diaby was then sent off in added time.
At the bottom, Villefranche’s difficult start worsened with a 3-0 loss at Amiens. It was a third straight defeat and a seventh in nine league games for the Beaujolais club, which remains last on four points. Amiens climbed into fifth place, while Villefranche continues its search for a new coach two weeks after Fabien Pujo’s dismissal.
