Lamine Yamal Inspires Barcelona’s 4-1 Comeback Win at Rams Park

Barcelona turned a difficult night at Rams Park into another statement of intent, recovering from an early setback to win 4-1 and extend their perfect start to ten official matches. The visitors had to survive a brief surge from the Turkish hosts, but Lamine Yamal’s decisive second-half display transformed the contest and carried Hansi Flick’s side to their tenth victory of the season.

Barcelona’s season record 10 matches, 10 wins, 43 goals

Flick had to reshape his forward line without Raphinha, Barcelona’s standout player so far this season. Gabriel Jesus had been expected to start, but the German coach instead placed Dani Olmo in a false-nine role, a decision that paid off as Olmo supplied the equaliser and helped link Barcelona’s attacking play. Jesus and Karim Adeyemi were introduced after the break, with both immediately involved in the final goal.

Lamine Yamal changes the night

Barcelona controlled possession from the outset despite the hostile atmosphere, and the early pressure brought chances for Gordon and Fermín, both denied by goalkeeper Çakir before the 20-minute mark. Rafael Leao and Osimhen were kept largely out of the game at the other end, while the home side repeatedly tried to unsettle Yamal with provocations.

The plan did not work. Yamal’s first significant intervention was a precise delivery for Olmo, whose header narrowly failed to find the target. João Cancelo, in a rich scoring run over the past month, then forced Çakir into a save from distance.

Barcelona appeared comfortable until the match swung suddenly. A visiting attack containing a possible penalty appeal involving Gordon broke down, allowing the hosts to counter. Leao ran beyond Eric before pulling the ball back for Batrakov, whose finish struck Cancelo and wrong-footed Joan García for 1-0.

The stadium sensed an upset when Yilmaz appeared to add a second from a corner that had been touched by Osimhen. VAR, however, ruled the scorer offside and the goal was cancelled. Barcelona regained their composure before the interval, Cancelo finishing from an Olmo pass played from the ground to level the match. Gordon then had an opportunity in added time to send Flick’s team into the break ahead.

Four goals and a perfect record

Yamal began the second half by creating a clear opening for Gordon, who sent his finish wide. The winger did not need long to make a more telling contribution. Five minutes later, he supplied another dangerous cross and Fermín headed in from close range to put Barcelona 2-1 up.

With the hosts shaken, Yamal continued to dictate the decisive passages. He fired one effort over, then produced a remarkable run along the byline before finding Gordon, who converted after earlier missed opportunities. Barcelona had moved from danger to a two-goal advantage in a matter of minutes.

Flick then sent on Jesus and Adeyemi, and the substitutions delivered instantly. Another Yamal pass led to an imperfect Jesus touch, but the loose ball ran invitingly for Adeyemi, who beat Çakir with a low cross-shot. Adeyemi was later denied another goal by a clearance on the line.

The victory leaves Barcelona unbeaten and scoring freely even without Raphinha or a conventional centre-forward. The trip to Istanbul was supposed to be one of the season’s sternest early examinations; Barcelona emerged with another emphatic result, and with Yamal having answered the home crowd’s attempts to distract him by deciding the match.

Further demanding away fixtures against Betis and Paris Saint-Germain await before the Clásico, but Barcelona travel on with momentum, attacking depth and a record that no opponent has yet been able to interrupt.
