At Wembley, Spain’s 3-2 UEFA Nations League win over England carried an extra moment away from the floodlights and the final score. Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal, already central to his side’s performance, made time after the match to meet Declan Rice’s son.

Yamal had helped Spain set the tone in London, scoring early and remaining a persistent threat against England throughout the contest. His contribution helped the visitors leave one of European football’s most familiar stadiums with a 3-2 victory.
After the final whistle, England midfielder Rice — unavailable for the match because of injury — was waiting in the Wembley dressing-room area with his son. Anthony Gordon approached Yamal to pass on the request: Rice’s child hoped to meet the Spain international and take a photograph with him.
Despite the demands of the game and the attention surrounding his display, Yamal agreed and went to meet the Arsenal player and his son. He posed for the picture, prompting a personal thank-you from Rice.
“For me, you are the best,” Rice told the Barcelona attacker.
The exchange came as Yamal’s name continues to feature in Ballon d’Or discussion. At Wembley, however, the recognition was more immediate: an injured England international arranging a meeting between his young son and one of Spain’s decisive figures on the night.
