At Wembley, Spain began life after last summer’s World Cup triumph with an immediate statement. Lamine Yamal struck in the second minute against England on Saturday, giving La Roja their first goal of the new international chapter in London.

The Barcelona winger created the opening himself through sharp pressure on England centre-back Marc Guéhi. Yamal won possession from the defender and went through one-on-one with Trafford, finishing towards the far post.
His shot came back off the woodwork before crossing the line, handing Spain an early advantage in their Nations League visit to England.
A four-match Nations League spell
The Wembley match is Spain’s first of four fixtures during an extended international break, with every game forming part of the Nations League programme.
Spain already know the competition well, having lifted the Nations League trophy in 2023. Their trip to England now opens another four-match run in the tournament.
