Álex Baena needed only five minutes to leave his mark as Spain opened their Nations League campaign in England, striking a low equaliser to make it 2-2 in a lively contest on Saturday.
The midfielder had entered the match in the 55th minute, replacing Nico Williams, and quickly found the decisive touch. On 60 minutes, Baena collected the ball outside the penalty area and drove a precise shot towards the foot of the post, beyond England goalkeeper Trafford.
His finish restored parity with more than half an hour still to play, underlining the influence Baena can bring even when used from the bench. Spain had found their response in a match that had already produced plenty of attacking moments in its opening Nations League fixture.
