Liam Gallagher has offered his own confident reading of Manchester City’s long-running case, saying the club would face only a fine and a ban if an appeal were unsuccessful.
The Oasis singer, a prominent City supporter, said he had been told of the potential outcome by somebody occupying a “very, very high” position within football. Gallagher insisted, however, that he does not expect the champions to lose any appeal.
“I’ve just been informed by someone in a very, very high position that if we lose our appeal, which we won’t, we’ll get a fine and a ban and that’s it,” he wrote on social media.
Gallagher also turned his fire on those awaiting the outcome with enthusiasm, telling what he described as “desperate neurotics” to be quiet.
Case continues to hang over the league
The remarks arrive while the football world waits for progress in the process involving City, with the matter expected to run on for longer still. The uncertainty has kept the rest of the Premier League watching closely, with the possible consequences for the club remaining a major talking point across the division.
For Gallagher, though, there was little doubt in his message: City, he believes, will come through the appeal without having to face the fine or ban he mentioned.
