Paris FC have made a brisk start to life under Liam Rosenior, with the English coach winning over the dressing room and producing early results that have put the promoted side among the league’s early surprises.

Rosenior’s first four Ligue 1 matchdays have included a 3-2 victory away to Marseille and a goalless draw against Lyon, two demanding fixtures that have strengthened belief around the Paris club.
Jean-Marc Gallot, Paris FC’s chief executive, has praised the 41-year-old’s impact, describing him as a young and intelligent coach whose team talks have made a strong impression on players and staff. Gallot highlighted Rosenior’s ability to hold the attention of his audience.
The former Strasbourg coach has also spoken warmly about his new surroundings. He said he had enjoyed every moment since arriving, praised the people around the club, his staff and players, and said he felt fortunate to now be living in Paris.
Paris FC have retained much of the defensive resilience developed under Antoine Kombouaré last season while adding Rosenior’s more ambitious playing ideas. The handover was not entirely straightforward, however.
The club had hoped to continue with Kombouaré, but his health issues and discussions over a new contract complicated the situation. Rosenior had already been identified as a possible successor to Stéphane Gilli in late February, although he was then under contract at Chelsea.
Once Chelsea dismissed him, Paris FC returned for their preferred candidate. Rosenior initially envisaged taking over a more established club in Europe, but accepted the Paris project and signed a two-year deal.
A review is planned at the end of the season to determine whether his stay can be extended. His abrupt exit from Strasbourg for Chelsea has not counted against him at Paris FC, where the view is that an English coach could hardly turn down an approach from a Big Four club, especially given Chelsea’s BlueCo connection with Strasbourg.
Rosenior has described his Chelsea experience as part of his development. “You learn from every match and every training session,” he said. “I hope to become a better coach because I am still a young coach. I have had valuable experiences and hope to take this club where it wants to go.”
That internal target is a finish between seventh and 10th in Ligue 1. There is no expectation that Paris FC must qualify for Europe this season, although a place in the Conference League or Europa League would be welcomed.
Right-back Hamari Traoré has offered a similarly positive assessment of the new manager. The Mali international said Rosenior is close to his players, ambitious, enthusiastic and confident, while insisting that the coach leaves nothing to chance.
“He wants us to play football,” Traoré said. “The team is beginning to understand what he wants.”
The next appointment in France
Paris FC face RC Strasbourg on Saturday at 17:15 in another significant Ligue 1 test. It will carry added emotion for Rosenior, who comes up against the club he left before his short spell at Chelsea.
The meeting gives Paris FC another opportunity to test whether their opening momentum can endure. Early discussion has placed them among possible top-five challengers, but the club’s stated objective remains more measured.
