Linda Noskova’s US Open run ended in the quarterfinals, but the Czech’s New York fortnight also delivered meetings with WWE star Charlotte Flair and the cast of a Broadway production, capped by a visit to the Lyric Theatre stage with compatriot Marie Bouzkova.
Noskova’s New York fortnight extends beyond the US Open draw
Noskova produced her deepest US Open result by reaching the last eight, where top seed Aryna Sabalenka edged her in a three-set contest. Earlier in the draw, Noskova defeated Lanlana Tararudee in the second round at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
The Czech, listed as World No. 6, is a longstanding WWE follower and had 14-time world champion Charlotte Flair in her player box for the Tararudee match. Flair travelled to New York after learning that she was one of Noskova’s favourite wrestlers.
Noskova later wrote that she had followed Flair since she was 14 and called the chance to have her courtside seven years later “unreal.” Flair floated the prospect of a tag-team partnership, while Noskova replied with an invitation to play doubles.
Broadway visit for Noskova and Bouzkova
Off court, Noskova and Bouzkova headed to Manhattan’s Theatre District to watch Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Their evening included chocolate wands and Butterbeer before a backstage visit with the company.
