Como return from the international break with a demanding week that will test both their ambition and their ability to sustain it. Roma visit the Sinigaglia on Sunday, before Cesc Fabregas’ side turn immediately to Champions League business and another Serie A trip.
Roma bring a major test to the Sinigaglia
Sporting director Carlalberto Ludi has described Sunday’s meeting with Roma as an important measure of Como’s place in the league. The visitors arrive as one of Serie A’s strongest sides, while Como intend to approach the occasion with the seriousness of a club seeking to establish itself at that level.
“It will be a stimulating match and an extremely difficult one against one of the best teams in the championship,” Ludi said. “We want to take them on with ambition and show that we can compete with them.”
Energy becomes the theme of a crowded schedule
The Roma fixture is only the first part of a compressed run. Como must also prepare for Champions League opposition, leaving little time for recovery between matches.
- Sunday: Roma visit Como in Serie A.
- Wednesday: Como travel to Rotterdam to face Feyenoord in the Champions League.
- The following Sunday: an away league match against Fiorentina at the Franchi.
Ludi said the club’s challenge is to maintain physical and mental intensity while playing every three days. He acknowledged that this is not straightforward for a young squad, but said Como have been working closely on the issue.
Fabregas setting the standard
Fabregas has made energy and readiness a central part of Como’s preparation for this sequence of fixtures. Ludi underlined the coach’s insistence on the subject, expressing confidence that the squad will be prepared for the demands ahead.
For Como, the coming days offer more than a single showcase against Roma. They represent a broader test of the club’s capacity to carry league ambition into a schedule shaped by European competition, travel and three high-level opponents in quick succession.
