Seville’s autumn schedule has left Real Betis balancing Europe, league points and cup commitments, with Álvaro Fidalgo still working to secure a larger role in the midfield. The Mexican appeared from the bench in Sunday’s goalless draw with Celta Vigo, his first action since being unused in the Champions League win over Feyenoord.
Fidalgo replaced Dani Ceballos for the final 16 minutes of the LaLiga Matchday 10 fixture. Betis could not find the breakthrough at the Benito Villamarín, but the outing offered the former América player another chance to stay involved during a crowded run of matches.
Quick facts
- Real Betis drew 0-0 with Celta Vigo in LaLiga Matchday 10.
- Álvaro Fidalgo came on for Dani Ceballos and played 16 minutes.
- The midfielder has made four appearances in 10 possible matches this season.
- He has now logged 83 LaLiga minutes, plus 29 minutes in the Champions League.
- Betis are fourth in LaLiga on 20 points.
During his spell on the pitch, Fidalgo looked to connect play and move the ball through midfield, combining with teammates and seeking passes into open areas. Neither side, however, managed to turn possession into a decisive chance or a goal.
The 16-minute appearance took Fidalgo’s league total from 67 to 83 minutes. His only Champions League involvement this term has brought a further 29 minutes, underlining how limited his opportunities have been despite Betis competing across several fronts.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side remain fourth after sharing the points with Celta, holding 20 from their opening 10 league games. The immediate focus shifts to the Copa del Rey, where Betis face Navalcarnero in midweek before returning to league action against Málaga.
