The French Football Federation confirmed that Mbappé has suffered a tendon injury. Initial assessments will now be followed by detailed tests in Madrid, where Real Madrid will establish both the precise diagnosis and the likely duration of his absence.
The injury occurred as Mbappé struck the only goal of the match. Zidane said the player hyperextended his knee when shooting and made clear that France would not take any chance with his fitness.

That projected recovery would keep him below FIFA’s 28-day absence requirement and therefore outside the compensation window, a possibility that will also be watched closely once Mbappé’s tests are complete.
