Mexican Officials Appointed for U-20 Women’s World Cup Finals in Poland

In Łódź, where the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Poland 2026 reaches its closing weekend, Mexican officials will be involved in both matches that decide the final places. Three will work Italy’s meeting with Colombia for third place, while Diana Stephanía Pérez Borja has been selected for the video review team in the title match between Spain and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

Mexico takes three roles in the third-place play-off

Lizzet Amairany García Olvera will referee the Italy-Colombia match at Stadion Miejski LKS Łódź on Saturday, 26 September. It is another prominent appointment for the FIFA-listed official, who has held international status since 2022.

  1. García Olvera took charge of China PR against Spain during the group phase.
  2. She then refereed Italy versus New Zealand in the same stage of the competition.
  3. The Mexican was appointed for Brazil’s quarter-final against Spain and also served as fourth official in three other tournament fixtures.
  4. Her final assignment at the competition will be as referee for the bronze-medal encounter between Italy and Colombia.

She will be joined by two compatriots. Aranza Quero Aguilar, a FIFA assistant referee since 2024, will take the first assistant’s flag. María Fernanda Juárez Martínez, who became an international official in 2025, has been named second assistant.

Pérez Borja selected for the final’s video operation

The Mexican presence continues a day later, on Sunday 27 September, when Spain meet the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea at the same Łódź stadium for the trophy. Pérez Borja will oversee VAR duties for the final.

  1. Pérez Borja, a FIFA VAR official since 2023, worked video-review assignments during the group stage.
  2. She was subsequently involved in Italy’s round-of-16 match against China PR.
  3. She also handled VAR for Brazil against Spain in the quarter-finals.
  4. Her tournament concludes with responsibility for the video assistant referee system in the championship match.

The appointments give Mexican refereeing representation across the two final fixtures of the Polish tournament, from the third-place contest on Saturday to Sunday’s meeting for the world title.
