Michael Olise Hits Hat-Trick as Bayern Thrash Union Berlin 7-0

Michael Olise left Munich with the match ball and a clear mind for international duty after Bayern Munich dismantled Union Berlin 7-0 on Friday night. The French playmaker scored three times, set up Harry Kane and helped the Bundesliga leaders make another emphatic early-season statement.

Olise shines before France call-up

Hours after Zinédine Zidane selected him for France’s forthcoming Nations League fixtures, Olise delivered a performance of rare authority in the opening match of Bundesliga matchday four.

His treble came in the 43rd, 73rd and 76th minutes, taking him to eight goals from eight appearances in all competitions this season. The 23-year-old will now report to Clairefontaine after a night in which Union’s defence had no answer to his movement or finishing.

Bayern had already established control through Jamal Musiala, whose long-range effort put the home side ahead in the 18th minute. Kane then doubled the advantage from the penalty spot on 39 minutes.

Olise struck Bayern’s third shortly before the interval, meeting Musiala’s lay-off with a composed left-footed finish. His influence did not fade after the break: he curled in a left-sided cross for Kane to head home in the 54th minute.

Kane reaches 100-goal landmark

Kane’s second goal of the evening carried particular significance. The England captain has now scored 101 Bundesliga goals and became the quickest player to reach 100 in the competition’s history.

He needed only 98 league matches to reach the milestone, surpassing former Bordeaux forward Dieter Müller, who had taken 129 appearances with Cologne during the 1970s.

Ismael Saibari added Bayern’s fifth goal in the 70th minute before Olise took centre stage again. Tom Bischof released him behind a poorly organised Berlin back line, and Olise controlled brilliantly before rounding goalkeeper Frederik Rönnow and firing into an empty net.

Three minutes later, Bischof again played a part, with Olise collecting a flick-on and sending a dipping left-footed strike from around 25 metres beyond Rönnow to complete the rout.

Bayern top after four rounds

The result puts Bayern at the top of the table ahead of Saturday’s fixtures. Freiburg, travelling to Eintracht Frankfurt, and Borussia Dortmund, away at Stuttgart, were the only other sides to have won each of their first three league matches.

For Bayern, it was another overwhelming victory built around their familiar attacking axis. For Olise, it was a fitting final act before joining the France squad: three goals, one assist and a night Union Berlin will want to forget.
