Milan used the international break to keep their available players sharp, drawing 1-1 with Serie B side Padova in a friendly at Milanello. Ruben Amorim was without the large group of Rossoneri players away on national-team duty, but took the opportunity to assess those remaining in Italy before the league programme resumes.
The match remained goalless through the opening half despite Milan creating the clearer chances. The attacking trio of Idrissi, Hutchinson and Pulisic all tested Padova goalkeeper Sorrentino, who denied the hosts on three occasions.
Ossola scores before Padova respond
Amorim made changes after the interval, introducing Ossola and Nirash Perera for Hutchinson and Idrissi. The alteration brought Milan’s opening goal in the 69th minute.
Loftus-Cheek supplied the pass for Ossola, whose firm diagonal finish put the Rossoneri ahead. Padova, however, found a late response when Sgarbi headed home to leave the friendly level at full time.
Milan began with P. Terracciano in goal; Gabbia, Gila and Tomori in defence; Diawara, Loftus-Cheek, Comotto and F. Terracciano across midfield; and Idrissi, Hutchinson and Pulisic in attack.
Saelemaekers absent as Sassuolo approaches
Alexis Saelemaekers did not take part after suffering a sprain to his right ankle in training in recent days. Amorim has given the squad two days away from work during the extended break, with sessions scheduled to resume on Monday morning at Milanello.
Milan’s attention will then turn fully to Serie A. The Rossoneri return to competitive action against Sassuolo on Sunday 11 October, with kick-off set for 18:00.
