Milan’s approach to Bournemouth is being shaped by absences and by the need to give younger attackers a more central role. With Gonçalo Ramos unavailable and Samuel Chukwueze also ruled out, coach Ruben Amorim is expected to alter his forward line rather than turn to Francesco Camarda, who had appeared the natural replacement at centre-forward.
Cisse set for a central role
Alpha Cisse is in line to start as Milan’s No. 9, flanked by Omari Hutchinson and Diego Moreira. It would be a slightly different assignment for the young forward, who has often operated from wider areas but has experience as the main attacking reference point with Baldini’s Italy Under-21 side.
- Cisse scored a hat-trick against Salzburg, although those goals came while he was playing wide.
- He then remained on the bench for the full match against Atalanta.
- After the Salzburg treble, he said that he could play as a striker.
- He had previously won the Under-21 selection battle with Camarda for the central attacking position.
The Bournemouth match offers him another chance to carry Milan’s attack, this time with the instruction to occupy the penalty area and provide a target for the players around him.
Camarda waits after Salzburg start
Camarda started in Salzburg but did not score, producing a restrained display. His situation is being viewed in the context of a long spell with limited minutes: it is not simple for a young striker to enter a starting role after repeated bench appearances, particularly when physical rhythm is still developing.
Rather than selecting him again in Ramos’s absence, Amorim appears ready to trust a lighter, more mobile attacking unit. The decision is both a technical choice and a response to the personnel available for the Bournemouth fixture.
Hutchinson and Moreira to supply the width
Hutchinson should start on one side after beginning the Benfica match, when he was withdrawn at half-time. His recent performances have shown greater intensity and confidence, and Milan will look to use that progress in support of Cisse.
Moreira is expected to line up on the opposite flank. Against Atalanta he had been used in a more demanding wing-back role, but the plan now is to position him higher up the pitch, allowing him to attack defenders with the ball and reducing his defensive marking responsibilities.
- Hutchinson is expected to provide support from a wide attacking role.
- Moreira should be freed to focus on dribbling and attacking actions rather than extensive defensive work.
- Cisse is set to become the focal point between the two wide players.
Changes expected through the Milan side
The rotation is not limited to the forward line. Luka Modric and Adrien Rabiot are both likely to be rested in midfield, with Ardon Jashari, Yunus Musah and Ruben Loftus-Cheek expected to form the central unit.
In defence, Fikayo Tomori could receive another opportunity at right-back in place of Gila. Koni De Winter, Strahinja Pavlovic and Pervis Estupinan are the other expected members of the back line.
- Goalkeeper and the wider match squad have not been specified.
- Tomori is expected to take the right-back berth from Gila.
- De Winter, Pavlovic and Estupinan should complete the defensive line.
- Jashari, Musah and Loftus-Cheek are set to replace the likely-rested Modric and Rabiot in midfield.
