Napoli’s injury picture is beginning to brighten at Castel Volturno, with Alisson Santos, Frank Anguissa and Mathías Olivera all returning to full group training ahead of the trip to Venezia.
Three returns offer Napoli greater room to manoeuvre
Alisson Santos marked his return with a message of optimism after taking part in the previous day’s session alongside the squad. The Brazilian said he was “very happy to be back training with the group and ready to help the team,” sharing images from the work at Castel Volturno.
His recovery comes with two significant returns in the established core of the side. Anguissa and Olivera, key figures in Napoli’s two Scudetto-winning campaigns, also rejoined collective training, as Massimiliano Allegri had indicated before the Villarreal fixture.
- The players who started in the Champions League were assigned recovery work.
- The remaining members of the squad completed physical activation and possession-based exercises.
- The session concluded with a small-sided match.
- Alisson Santos, Anguissa and Olivera trained with the full group.
Venezia could provide a careful first step
All three are expected to return to the matchday squad for Venezia, which could allow Allegri to give them limited minutes rather than demand an immediate return to full intensity.
Napoli do not intend to rush the trio. The greater priority is to have them in their best condition for Tuesday’s meeting with Bodo/Glimt at the Maradona, a European match that is already likely to shape the club’s prospects in the competition.
For Allegri, the immediate task is to manage the league afternoon without compromising the broader week. Venezia may offer a controlled route back for players who can deepen Napoli’s options just as the season enters another demanding passage.
