Napoli’s European preparation has reached its travelling day, with the squad due to leave Castel Volturno for Spain after a final morning session ahead of Villarreal.
Napoli complete their final work before Spain
- The players involved in the previous match were put through a light recovery programme, while those who had not featured completed the more demanding running work.
- Napoli will return to the training ground at 11am for their final session before departure.
- The group will have lunch at Castel Volturno before setting off for Spain.
- At 4.15pm, Massimiliano Allegri will face the media alongside one of his players.
Anguissa remains the late question
The principal uncertainty concerns Frank Anguissa. The midfielder has effectively been absent from Napoli’s plans since the third league matchday against Inter.
He did make an appearance in Florence, coming on in the 89th minute, but suffered another adductor problem. His condition will therefore be assessed before the trip.
If Anguissa is declared fit, he would receive his first Champions League call-up of the season. Villarreal would also provide a familiar setting: the Cameroon international played for the Spanish club during the 2019-20 campaign.
