The NFL requested that the Department of Homeland Security take down a social media post that compared immigration agents’ treatment of migrants with the hard-hitting style of former Philadelphia Eagles safety Brian Dawkins.
What changed for the franchise
The league moved to distance former Eagles standout Dawkins from the comparison, which used his on-field reputation for punishing tackles in a post about immigration enforcement.
Dawkins, a Hall of Fame defensive back and one of the most recognizable players in Eagles history, was not presented as having made the post. The NFL’s action was a request for DHS to remove the message.
