Nils Hoglander’s First Predators Goal Lifts Nashville Past Dallas

Nils Hoglander’s first goal in a Nashville sweater was the difference Saturday, with the Predators edging the Dallas Stars 2-1 at Bridgestone Arena.

  • Hoglander scored on the power play at 15:49 of the first period, redirecting Jack Ahcan’s left-point shot off his left skate from the top of the crease.
  • The goal was Hoglander’s first with Nashville since the Predators acquired him from the Vancouver Canucks on June 29 for a third-round selection in the 2029 NHL Draft.
  • Ahcan collected his first point as a Predator in his Nashville debut.
  • Steven Stamkos also struck on the power play, tying the game 1-1 at 4:46 of the opening period. Ryan O’Reilly slipped a backhand feed through two Stars defenders, and Stamkos hammered a one-timer from the left circle.
  • Stamkos reached 625 NHL goals in his 19th season, matching Jarome Iginla and Joe Sakic for 17th place on the League’s all-time goals list.
  • Juuse Saros stopped 29 shots for Nashville, which moved to 1-1-0.
  • Miro Heiskanen opened the scoring 47 seconds into the first. After a crease scramble, Mikko Rantanen found Heiskanen in the right circle for a blocker-side wrist shot.
  • Casey DeSmith made 24 saves for Dallas, now 1-1-0.
  • The Stars arrived in Nashville after a 4-0 home loss to the St. Louis Blues in Friday’s season opener.
