Parma and Genoa arrive at the Tardini carrying the same burden: one point from four league matches, a fragile start, and a growing sense that Sunday’s result will weigh heavily on the men in the dugout.
A meeting shaped by early pressure
Carlos Cuesta and Daniele De Rossi have both seen their sides struggle for consistency in the opening weeks. Neither club has publicly signalled an imminent decision on its coach, yet the match in Parma comes with an unavoidable judgement attached to it. A victory would offer room to breathe; another poor afternoon would deepen questions around two teams still searching for structure and direction.
The fixture is therefore more than a contest between two sides near the foot of the early table. It is a test of whether Parma or Genoa can turn an anxious beginning into a proper season, rather than allowing the uncertainty to settle around the training ground and boardroom.
Parma consider their attacking options
Cuesta has kept his intentions largely private ahead of kick-off. David Romero, who has shown encouraging form, is in contention to lead the attack alongside El Bilal Touré, who is still waiting to establish himself at his best level.
Lontani has been one of the brighter notes in Parma’s difficult opening spell and could again be involved. In midfield, Sierro is expected to start as Parma attempt to cope without Nicolussi Caviglia and Bernabé. The Swiss player’s passing and organisation could be particularly important should Cuesta use a three-man central midfield.
Diego Carlos is set to retain his place in defence, giving Parma some continuity at the back for a game in which calm possession may be as valuable as urgency.
De Rossi receives a defensive boost
Genoa have had some late relief with Ostigard available again after gastroenteritis delayed his preparation. His return matters because Johan Vásquez is suspended, leaving De Rossi to find a replacement on the left of his defensive unit.

For both teams, the Tardini offers an early chance to change the mood. Parma and Genoa have not yet found the performance that can define their campaign; this meeting may instead reveal which club is better equipped to escape the tension that has already gathered around its season.
