Paulo Dybala Injury Worry as Roma Face Real Madrid Setback

Roma’s Champions League evening at the Olimpico against José Mourinho’s Real Madrid brought an injury concern that could carry into the domestic campaign, with Paulo Dybala unable to continue after the interval.

The coach and the club

Gian Piero Gasperini was forced into two injury-related changes during the match. The first arrived in the opening half, when Manu Koné encountered a physical problem and had to leave the contest.

Roma’s greater concern then came at half-time. Dybala remained in the dressing room after feeling discomfort in his right calf, ending his involvement after the first 45 minutes. Mora entered at the start of the second half in the Argentine forward’s place.

The club will assess Dybala over the coming hours, with instrumental examinations expected to establish the nature and extent of the muscular issue. His availability for Roma’s next commitments will depend on those results.

  1. Koné suffered a physical issue during the first half and became Roma’s first enforced substitution.
  2. Dybala reported discomfort in his right calf before the break.
  3. He did not return for the second half, with Mora introduced by Gasperini.
  4. Further tests will determine the severity of Dybala’s injury.
