France remain on the FIFA podium after the autumn international window, but Portugal have supplied the sharpest movement near the summit, climbing to fifth after a flawless Nations League run.
The updated rankings, published on Wednesday following the September-October break, leave Zinédine Zidane’s France in third place on 1,958.86 points. Les Bleus won three of their four Nations League fixtures and stay behind Argentina, while England sit immediately below them in fourth.
Portugal’s clean sweep lifts them above Brazil and Morocco
Portugal have moved up two positions to fifth after four successive victories. Their run included a 1-0 win over Wales, two 2-1 successes against Norway and a 4-2 victory over Denmark.
Brazil and Morocco each slip one place as a result. They are the only other sides to change position in the top 10.
Spain extend their lead at the top
World champions Spain remain first and have widened the gap to Argentina. They lead the ranking on 2,011.57 points after winning all four of their opening Nations League matches.
Spain beat England 3-2, overcame Croatia twice — 4-1 and 2-1 — and defeated the Czech Republic 3-1.
Argentina hold second spot with 1,972.80 points after Tuesday’s 3-0 win against Benin, Lionel Messi’s final match for the national side. England are fourth on 1,925.59 points, with Belgium, the Netherlands and Mexico completing the top 10.

United States hold 16th despite perfect window

The largest upward jumps belong to Rwanda, now 119th, and the Dominican Republic, who rise to 135th. Both nations gain nine places.
The next FIFA ranking update is scheduled for 18 November.
