Raphinha Cleared to Return for Barcelona Against Getafe

Barcelona can expect Raphinha back in Catalonia rather than on Brazil’s trip to India, with fresh medical checks clearing the forward to return against Getafe on 10 October.

The Brazilian was withdrawn from the national squad on Wednesday after reporting discomfort in his right thigh, but there is no diagnosed injury. Tests completed at Barcelona’s Joan Gamper training centre on Friday confirmed that the player is fit, allowing the club to plan for his availability immediately after the international break.

A precaution for Brazil, a relief for Barcelona

  1. Raphinha felt a muscular problem in his right thigh during Brazil’s 4-2 victory over Australia and was replaced at half-time.
  2. Brazil’s football federation initially reported a minor oedema rather than an injury, but removed him from the squad as a precaution.
  3. The winger underwent further examinations in Barcelona on Friday morning after leaving the Brazil camp.
  4. Those checks found no injury, and Barcelona expect him to be ready for Getafe on 10 October.

A central figure in an unbeaten start

The news arrives at a demanding point in Barcelona’s calendar. The club are alone at the top of LaLiga with 21 points and have begun their Champions League campaign with a 5-1 win over Feyenoord, a night in which Raphinha scored twice.

Across all competitions, the Brazilian has delivered 14 goals and three assists in only eight appearances, placing him among the early standouts of the European season.

Barcelona have five matches still to play in October, with Paris Saint-Germain due in the Champions League on 20 October before a LaLiga meeting with Real Madrid on 25 October. Raphinha’s swift clearance gives the leaders a significant attacking option for a month that will test their domestic position and continental ambitions.
