Flick made several changes as part of his rotation policy, and two of the selected players immediately shaped the evening. Cancelo and Adeyemi repeatedly broke through on the left, with the German’s running giving Racing’s defence little respite.

Before that setback, Adeyemi had won another clear penalty from Pedro. Lamine Yamal took it but struck a poor effort, then hit the post as he searched for a goal. A later finish from the teenager was ruled out for offside.
Racing’s second goal did not alter Barcelona’s momentum. Adeyemi was again the catalyst, earning a third penalty when Iker Luque fouled him, and Raphinha stepped up to complete his hat-trick.
Gabriel Jesus added the sixth almost immediately after coming on, curling home Lamine Yamal’s measured cross with one of his first touches. The final word went to Yamal, who finally found the net after Adeyemi carried the ball through the field, beat defenders and picked out the teenager inside the area.
