Real Madrid received a measure of relief in the Spanish capital on Saturday after examinations confirmed that Kylian Mbappé’s left-knee problem is not expected to become a lengthy absence.
The France forward returned to Madrid after being forced off during Friday’s Nations League match against Turkey. Tests carried out by the club’s medical staff diagnosed an overstretching injury to the posterior capsule of his left knee.
In its official update, Madrid said Mbappé’s condition would be monitored and did not set a formal return date. The nature of the injury, however, points to an absence of around two weeks.
Concern eased after international setback
Mbappé’s early departure against Turkey had raised fears at Valdebebas that the problem could keep him out for a more substantial period. The initial assessment has instead offered reassurance to the European champions, although the player’s progress over the coming days will determine when he can resume action.
The Frenchman will now continue his recovery in Madrid rather than with the national side, with the club awaiting the evolution of the knee injury before confirming his availability for upcoming fixtures.
